Madison Hobbs

Hi! My name is Madison Hobbs and I am a birth and postpartum doula serving the greater Kansas City Metro.

I am the owner and operator of Hobbs Birthing!

I often get asked why I got into the birth world and what makes me so passionate about it. These are such hard questions to answer because it’s such a gut feeling that putting it into words is nearly impossible. But I try anyway.

I always knew I loved babies, but I discovered my love for pregnancy and childbirth when I began watching the show “A Baby Story” on TLC when I was 9 or 10. As I grew older, I knew I loved science and caring for people, so I decided to pursue nursing. While a member of the honorable Shawnee Mission Medical Science Program as a senior in high school, I had the opportunity to shadow labor and delivery nurses. During my first rotation, within 10 minutes of entering the unit, I had the amazing opportunity to bear witness to a child being born. His first cry forever changed my life.

After deciding nursing was too broad of a career for me, I remembered the doulas I had seen on “A Baby Story” and immediately began research on how to become one. I began my journey as a doula in January of 2018 and know with all my heart, with an indescribable gut feeling, that this is what I was meant to do.

For my birth clients, I offer comfort measures during labor including positioning, breathing techniques, verbal affirmations, knowledge of procedures, massage, TENS unit, aromatherapy, and rebozo.

For my postpartum clients, I offer support and education on feeding, sleeping, changing, and wearing techniques and help you adjust to life with a new baby. Having worked with children for over a decade, I’ve become very skilled in feeding, comforting, and changing infants. Through my training, I further learned the reasons behind what worked and how to teach parents those techniques.

I look forward to working with you during your pregnancy, labor, delivery, and postpartum period.
