BBCI & BBCD

Hi! I'm Kelly Lipscomb and I have been married to my husband, Aaron, since 2013. We moved from Virginia to Kansas City in 2018 and we have two beautiful girls and a fur baby. I was an elementary teacher for 4 1/2 years and I stopped teaching once I had my first baby. I first became passionate in birth before I was even pregnant and decided to watch "The Business of Being Born". It was eye opening for me and really made me think hard about what I would want for my future births. While I was pregnant with my first, I read numerous books, joined many groups on Facebook, and researched everything I could about policies, procedures, risks/benefits, and alternatives. After my first hospital birth experience, I knew I would one day want to help women have the empowering experience that I had. For the first time, I had felt strong, confident, and I was proud that I was able to trust and listen to my body. It wasn't until much later that I decided to finally stop being afraid of the what-ifs and jump into the birth field. I certified with Birth Boot Camp as a childbirth instructor in August of 2019. Since then, I have had the pleasure of helping families prepare for their birth by providing them with the information and tools they need to make those informed decisions. I love teaching birth classes and my favorite thing about BBC and our curriculum is that we really prepare dad (or whoever the support partner may be) with a variety of tools to best support mom! I love seeing the connection and bond forming as I teach them different comfort measures, labor and push positions, and pain management techniques. I kept feeling a desire to serve these couples in a different way, so in November of 2020 I decided to certify with BBC in their doula program. I am so excited to not only continue to offer a variety of amazing classes but to also offer birth support to clients. My experience as a trained doula, certified birth educator, a mother, and as a friend, is to offer emotional, physical, and informational support during your pregnancy and birth. We will work together in all stages -- pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, to ensure that you feel confident and ready for this next step.
