Chelsie Duckworth

I love the saying “Peace on earth begins with birth” because at any birth, regardless of the journey or the outcome, there is a special opportunity to bring a new life and a new identity into a space that is filled with compassion, love, and respect. There is nothing like birth that allows us to connect on such a fundamental human level and each birth experience really should encompass all of the key ingredients for peacemaking. As a doula, I am honored to help create that type of space for families.

Everyone has the right to a safe, informed, and ultimately satisfying birth and postpartum experience. Even though birth can often go in ways not planned or desired, it is when choices and consent are taken away that the transformative nature of birth switches from positive to negative. As a doula, I am there to merge my knowledge with my clients and help them feel connected to their experience, to their partners, and to baby. I let them know that their labor and birth are unique to them and that they have my support through all of their visions and decisions. Having someone there to guide you with an open heart and unconditional support on your pregnancy, labor, and postpartum journey is invaluable. My role is making sure that your experience leaves you feeling strong, safe, and at peace.

I am committed to providing evidence-based, mother/parent-friendly birth and postpartum services. Having the knowledge to make informed decisions and the physical and emotional support of a great birth team allows you to find power in your own unique path to building a family.

I have a B.A. in Women, Gender, and Sexuality studies. I have trained in birth, postpartum, bereavement, and advanced doula support as well as new parent education. I am currently the Secretary for the Doulas of Greater Kansas City. I am on the diversity, inclusion, and equity task force for CAPPA (Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association), and serve as a community ambassador for Planned Parenthood. I am also a member of the United Nations Association of Greater Kansas City – Women’s committee, as well as a member of the metro Kansas City’s Mother & Child Health Coalition.

I would love to chat about supporting your birth and/or postpartum experience!
